The fundamental difference lies in scalp simulation. Lace top wigs have hair knotted directly onto a lace base—these knots remain visible and often require bleaching or concealer.

Silk top construction features a dual-layer system: hair is knotted onto a lace layer, then covered with a thin silk layer that completely hides the knots.
